We’ve been married 6+ years – it’s my 3rd time. My wife, Janet, is on her first. It occurred to me that it might be fun if I documented some of our adventures. I’m American; born and raised in Philly; lived in Portland, Oregon for forty + years. Janet has no conception of what forty years is. She’s from Alcoy, Cebu in the Philippines. Spent five years working and going to college in Maasin City, Leyte. She graduated – I didn’t. There’s one stereotype busted!
My friends in Fil-Am marriages talk about the differences in culture, language, religion, and just life view. But talk is cheap and conclusions are tough to come by. But the stories are funny as hell.
So let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way, shall we. I’m 67 and Janet is 31. So add age difference to the culture, language, religion, and life view differences. Also, she’s pretty hot; I’m pretty much not; so add that to the mix.
I’m a writer and sometimes funny. If you’re David Sedaris they call you a humorist; me they call a wiseass! So that’ll be my view in this blog. Sure I’ll be informative from time to time; but mostly entertaining. Join in!
And please “like” and “share” our blog and stories. Makes us feel all warm and fuzzy.
Update: We’re retired and have moved to Dumaguete in the Philippines. The adventure continues!
